Mejía Batters Washington Big Time
Mejía Batters Washington Big Time
Sunday, April 22nd, 2012: After the Winter Park 11-3 victory over Washington and his 5-hit day left fielder Ánibal Mejía told BNN beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game are very good... three or four hits even better... 5 or more are out of sight... and if it is in pro ball... it is really something special."

The 21-year-old player gained that distinction today at Empires Stadium with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Washington Nationals.

The skipper of the Blaze spoke glowingly of Mejía, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Ánibal did that to perfection today."

Ánibal Mejía hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th and doubled in the 8th.

So far this season Mejía has 1 home run and a .329 batting average.
